Stilwell, KS | Music on Metcalf (Opening for Crys Matthews)

  • Stilwell United Methodist Church 19335 Metcalf Avenue Stilwell, KS, 66085 United States (map)

Music on Metcalf is a concert series that opens the doors of Stilwell United Methodist Church to the wider community, transforming our sanctuary into a warm and welcoming venue for live music. Each concert brings together artists and audiences in a setting that values creativity, connection, and the simple joy of gathering together. By hosting both local and international performers, we seek to nurture a spirit of hospitality and remind ourselves that music has the power to unite and uplift.

This is a community-friendly event designed as a focused listening experience. We will not have childcare or nursery available, and we ask that those attending be able to engage with the performance attentively and respectfully. The event is best suited for ages 12 and up.

Guests are invited to arrive at 6:00 PM to enjoy coffeehouse-style refreshments. Doors to the performance space will open at 6:30 PM, and the concert will begin at 7:00 PM. Each evening features a curated lineup of musicians from a variety of genres, offering a thoughtful and uplifting night of music.

Tickets are required for entry. Early admission tickets are $20 per person and will be $25 at the door. Proceeds from the evening will support the artists and help sustain the Music on Metcalf series, while also benefitingCommunity for Kids, a local nonprofit that provides weekend food packs to approximately 300 students in the Blue Valley Public School system.

Our concert will feature Crys Matthews, the 2024 International Folk Music Awards Artist of the Year. A Nashville-based singer-songwriter and fearless voice for justice, Matthews blends Americana roots, folk urgency, and Southern soul to reclaim space for Black artists in country, for LGBTQ+ voices in the South, and for hope in uncertain times. Hailed as a “troubadour of truth” and “drum major for justice,” she is known for weaving together the personal and political with empathy and conviction.
